How not to make friends & not influence people!

“Geoff Boycott is enough of an enigma to puzzle the Sphinx,” says former England captain, David Gower in his book, Heroes & Contemporaries. “He must be one of the few people in the world who can make either instant friends or instant enemies.”

Gower says he was once sitting at a poolside in Barbados sipping Pina Colada – a sweet, sticky and rum-based drink. Boycott, who was passing by, took a sip from his glass, screwed up his face and with that famous lop-sided grin of his said, “David, no wonder you play like you do. If I drank bloody stuff like that, I’d play some daft shots too!”

By the way, Boycs was a huge David Gower fan.
