After a thumping 169 run victory over Sri Lanka in the first One-Day International (ODI) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, India take on the mighty Lankans again in the 2nd of the five-match ODI series at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. With already a game up in the series, it would be interesting to see how skipper, Virat Kohli fields the playing XI for the next game scheduled to be played on November 6. Ayush Gupta predicts the possible playing XI for the all-important clash.

Top Order: The openers who got off to a flying start in the 1st game, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane are surely to retain their place. The mammoth 231-run opening partnership and blistering centuries from both the men has boosted the confidence on the pair for almost everyone in the team. Thus, it is highly unlikely that Kohli would want to fiddle with the opening slot. While third down could well be either one between the skipper himself and Suresh Raina, who fitted well in the order during the last game and scored a good half-century off 34 balls.

Middle Order: The middle order can start with either Kohli or Raina, depending on who comes in at No 3. Following them could well be Ambati Rayudu, who has the ability to hit big shots and play long innings. Kohli might not risk dropping him. After him would definitely be wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who is the only specialist keeper in the squad. The order would end with Akshar Patel, who is an all-rounder and was successful with the ball in last match as he claimed two wickets by giving away 24 runs. However, if Kohli decides to bring in all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja back to the squad who was rested for the first game, Rayudu could miss out on his spot.

Bowling Attack: The order would definitely consist of a specialist spinner in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin. Following him could be three fast bowlers in the form of Stuart Binny, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma. Varun Aaron, who would be missing the rest of the series due to injury, makes way for Binny who has recently been a huge success with the ball in both international and domestic circuit. Umesh who claimed two wickets in the last match for 24 runs also remains in the squad along with Ishant who was the highest wicket-taker in the last match with four wickets for 34 runs.

Overall, there is not much change expected except just for Binny replacing Aaron. However, there could be another change if Jadeja happens to come in replacing Rayudu in the squad.

Likely XI for India: Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu/Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha, Akshar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Stuart Binny, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma.
