India vs Zimbabwe 2015: Zimbabwe marks out of 10

With the Indian team registering a 3-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series at Harare Sports Club, it is time to review the performance of the Zimbabwean team. India managed to pull off victory in all three games, each of which was more convincing than the last. Zimbabwe ran India extremely close in the opening ODI with Elton Chigumbura scoring an excellent ton. However, after that the Indians managed to dominate the series. The Zimbabwean bowling usually managed to take wickets in a bunch before the Indian batsmen managed a huge partnership that took the game away. Ayush Gupta marks the Zimbabwean players out of 10. 1. Chamu Chibhabha, 8/10: The highest run-scorer for Zimbabwe, Chibhabha played exceptionally well in the series. Although he missed playing a big knock, his composure and style proved his consistency. He also took four wickets, which made him an even bigger asset for Zimbabwe.

2. Elton Chigumbura, 7/10: Another big asset for Zimbabwe, Chigumbura was the second-highest run-scorer for the team. His unbeaten 104 in the first match nearly resulted in a win for Zimbabwe, but he was unable to negotiate Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s final over. READ: Re-living Elton Chigumbura’s against-the-tide innings

3. Neville Madziva, 7/10: A talented young bowler who has impressed everyone, Madziva finished as the highest wicket-taker for his side in the series with six scalps. His best performance was when he took four for 49.

4. Sikandar Raza, 3/10: The all-rounder had was in good nick but had an off series. He scored just 68 runs from the three games, with the highest score of 37.

5. Richmond Mutumbami, 3/10: Mutumbami too had a rough series, as he was able to score just 61 runs from the three games, with a high score of 32 and a strike-rate of 75.30.

6. Graeme Cremer, 3/10: A talented all-rounder, Creamer failed to deliver against a big side. With an average performance of 54 runs from three games with the bat and no wickets for 121 runs from 20 overs, Cremer has completely failed to click in this particular series.

7. Hamilton Masakadza, 3/10: One of the star players of the current Zimbabwe side, Masakadza failed to deliver against the big opposition. 8. Regis Chakabva, 4/10: Chakabva played just one game, scored 27 before being eventually dropped. It was perhaps not enough of a sample size to rate him, but nonetheless he gets one.

9. Donald Tiripano, 4/10: Tiripano had an average series with the ball, taking three wickets in the series. He bowled with decent pace but he lacked direction.

11. Sean Williams, 3/10: With just 20 runs and no wickets for 40 from eight overs played across two games, Williams had a forgettable series after showing immense potential during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

12. Brian Vitori, 3/10: The left-arm pacer took just two wickets in the series, and was far from penetrative in the series. He must bring out some good performances or risk getting dropped.

13. Malcolm Waller, 2/10: Waller played just one match, and was nearly out off his first ball before finally getting out for 2. He did not get too many chances, but failed to prove himself when he did. READ: India’s lower-order batting blues continue

14. Prosper Utseya, 5/10: Utseya took one wicket for 41 runs in the only game he played. He bowled well, but India still managed a huge score. READ: Stuart Binny proving his worth as premier all-rounder for India
