India Women faced a close call defeat once again, as they were shown the way out the exit door beaten by 3 runs against West Indies Women at Mohali in T20 Women's World Cup 2016.

India Women faced a close call defeat once again, as they were shown the way out the exit door beaten by 3 runs against West Indies Women at Mohali in T20 Women’s World Cup 2016. While a confident West Indies took over India with ease and they turn to be the first team to proceed to semi-final from Group B after three consecutive win. India did have slight chance to stay had they managed to reach the target with no fall of wickets at death overs. West Indies have not approached the semi-final for the first time; this becomes the fourth occasion they reach the semi-final. While it has been two years since they made the cut to the semi-final. Yet the team did have some excellent innings from both ends to put light on and here are the highlights from the final group match for both teams. 1) Deandra Dottin’s all-round performance: If the skipper Stafanie Taylor was the star for her performance with bat and ball against Bangladesh, this time Deandra Dottin followed the legacy by scalping 3 for 16 at the end of 4 overs and 40-ball 45 including 5 fours. Deandra has remained prominent in every game with a wicket or two in every match and adding valuable 20 runs in the middle order. She was given just one over and ended it with 1 for 7. She could be the trump card for West Indies in the semi-final. She also remains the third highest wicket taker this tournament joining the league with other great bowlers with likes of Anam Amin including India’s Harmanpreet Kaur.

2) Harmanpreet Kaur’s 4-for: India’s key bowler Harmanpreet Kaur has been consistent this tournament grabbing just 2-3 wickets in every match. And it was her 4-for that restricted West Indies to 114. A similar situation has been observed where she has been critical picking wickets within 2-3 overs. She was also sticking through to support the skipper Mithali Raj against Bangladesh in the opening match of the tournament with her valuable 40-runs. Harmanpreet will be happy to end the tournament on a positive note by gaining the No.4 position as highest wicket taker. 3) Anuja Patil- Jhulan Goswami’s steady partnership and Anuja’s crucial 3 wickets:  When India were crumbling, Anuja Patil and Jhulan Goswami added vital 33-runs stand at 6th wicket. Earlier matches witnessed Anuja either coming before Jhulan or after wicket of Jhulan, Anuja enters. When India were 64/4, is when Anuja and Jhulan started their steady innings proceeding comfortably. Until Shaquana Quintyne came into attack and picked Anuja with Jhulan making her way out in the consecutive over. Anuja was also the star with her 3 crucial wickets of Kyshona Knight, Shaquana Quintyne and Stacy-Ann King. Anuja will leave with a smile on her facing end the tournament as ranking amongst top-10 wicket takers.

4) West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor’s central role: West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor played the role of captain from the front and missed her half-century by mere 5 runs and gave the required impetus for the team. She gives grand opening to the innings and ends it on a high note for West Indies. Stafanie Taylor stands tall at No.2 as leading scorer in this tournament and might end up at the top during the semi-final.

West Indies will be the first team to proceed to semi-final from Group B, while New Zealand have already made their way first to reach the semi-final from Group A.
