Delhi Capitals Kagiso Rabada was the star of the show as he recorded his best-ever Indian Premier League figures to set up the base for an emphatic win against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Before the contest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday evening, RCB legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal had maintained his grip over the Purple Cap with nine scalps.

However, Rabada, the DC pacer, ran through RCB line-up dismissing AB de Villiers inside the Powerplay before returning in the death-overs to inflict more damage. In the late stages, he accounted for Virat Kohli, Akshdeep Nath and Pawan Negi to finish with superb figures of 4/21 from four overs.

In a sharp contrast, Chahal went wicketless – bowling four overs for 36 runs. RCB had set DC 150 to win which they overhauled with four wickets and seven deliveries to spare.

Rabada, who was chosen as the man-of-the-match for his performance, is now the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing season of IPL with 11 wickets in six matches.

Purple Cap

“It has been a weird tournament for us as a team. It worked for me today and am glad. On a daily basis, you try to execute your simple skills. It is important to back yourself and I do it. I don’t see myself as a leader. If people are looking for some advice, am always there. I have a responsibility at the top of the innings and at the death,” he said after the match on Sunday.

The win was DC’s third of the season which helped them gain a place in the points table, switching places with Kings XI Punjab at fifth spot.
