Before the Wednesday night clash with Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings were the only unbeaten team of the ongoing season of Indian Premier League, sitting comfortably at the top spot of the points table. (READ: Pandya, Pollard stun Chennai)

By the end of it, not only did their winning run of three straight matches ended but they were also replaced at the top by Kings XI Punjab. Both the teams have won three matches and a suffered a defeat each but are separated by the net-run rate (NRR).

But in probability, Ravichandran Ashwin-led KXIP will be replaced by either Delhi Capitals of Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday night. The two teams will clash at the Feroz Shah Kotla and are currently at four points each.

SRH occupy the third spot behind CSK (six points) with Kolkata Knight Rider (four points) completing the top-four.

Both DC and SRH boast of a better NRR than KXIP. Meanwhile, Mumbai have again reclaimed their sixth spot after Rajasthan replaced them following their win over strugglers Royal Challengers Bangalore who are at the bottom of the pile with no points.

Defending champion CSK started the season with a hat-trick of wins and were the clear favourites ahead of their fourth match against MI. However, excellent all-round show from Hardik Pandya condemned the visitors to a 37-run defeat.
