Someone would have broken their run of three straight defeats. The question was: Who would it be? The answer is Rajasthan Royals who condemned Royal Challengers Bangalore to their fourth straight defeat of the ongoing Indian Premier League season in Jaipur on Tuesday night.

Like RCB, RR had also lost their first three matches of IPL 2019 but thanks to a superb bowling from Shreyas Gopal, they restricted their opponents to a manageable total which they overhauled comfortably.

So far, only RCB continue to be winless among the eight franchisees and consequently, languishing at the bottom of the points table. They are the early contenders of wooden spoon.

Chennai Super Kings are sitting at the top with three wins from as many matches that have given them six points. They are followed by Kings XI Punjab who also have six points with three wins from four matches but the net run-rate (NRR) pushes CSK above. Sunrisers Hyderabad have the best NRR so far which is an excellent 2.111 and are currently at the third spot. Kolkata complete the top-four with two wins from three matches and a total of four points.

Delhi Capitals are at the fifth position followed by Rajasthan who have swapped places with Mumbai Indians at sixth spot on the basis of a better NRR.

Today, Mumbai host Chennai at the Wankhede and have the chance jump to at least to the third spot if they manage to end Yellow Army’s winning run. A simple win, their second of the season, will result in Mumbai increasing their points tally to six and depending upon how emphatically they do that will decide their position.
