Karun Nair scored a 38-ball 61 against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 encounter. In Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) last match it was Sanju Samson, who nearly won the day with an innings of 76 off 46 balls. Deepak Hooda too had a good outing on a couple of occasions. Karun Nair announced himself in IPL 2014, with three half-centuries at an average of 33 and strike rate of 142.24. He had had a rather subdued IPL 2015, scoring only 78 runs in nine matches till he was given a chance at No. 3. He promptly responded by scoring a high-class 61 off 38 balls. While Karun’s IPL record is quite appreciable, one should bear in mind that he has been outstanding in all formats. He enjoys a First-Class average of 51.62 with a highest score of 328, which he got in the final of Ranji Trophy 2014-15. His List A record is even better: he averages 54.52 at a strike rate of 95.74. Another extremely bright prospect for RR is Sanju Samson. The young wicketkeeper has long been touted as one for the future of Indian cricket. He has come a long way since his IPL debut in 2013, where he showed a glimpse of his immense talent in his first game itself by scoring 63 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He too has an impressive domestic record, averaging 44.70 in First-Class cricket with five centuries. He too was in indifferent form in IPL 2015 till his nearly match-winning 76 off 46 against Mumbai Indians (MI). IPL 2015 Most 6s and 4s: List of most dangerous batsmen in IPL 8

The third batsman who has caught the eye is Deepak Hooda. Having made a mark in ICC Under-19 World Cup 2014, Hooda has shown tremendous potential in his limited opportunities so far in IPL 2015. He has scored only 118 runs in 10 matches but has come in to bat quite late in most of the games so far. On the couple of occasions he had time to get set, he showed off his appreciable six-hitting abilities. He has hit 11 sixes in six innings and scored a match-winning 54 against DD in the first match between the two sides. IPL 2015 Leading fielders: List of Best fielders in IPL 8

However, Hooda is far from being a T20 hitter. In his debut First-Class season he averaged 50.63 with two centuries and also did well in List A cricket, averaging 40.60 with two fifties. Hooda’s bowling has not been in the limelight very much, but he is a tidy off-spinner as well, with a decent economy rate. IPL 2015 schedule: IPL 8 match time table with venue details

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the likes of Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav, while DD have Shreyas Iyer and Mayank Agarwal. RCB have Sarfaraz Khan and Vijay Zol and Mumbai Indians have Unmukt Chand. And yet, RR remain the only side that backs its young players to the fullest, and makes full use of the uncapped Indian talent. They might also have collectively the best of the lot.
