Cape Cobras, who take on Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the PCA stadium in Mohali have a huge battle on hand as they head into the final group-stage encounter of the Champions League T20 2014 (CLT20). The Cobras need to win by a big margin to stay in contention of a semi-final spot. Ayush Gupta talks about the likely XI the Cobras could field against KXIP.

Top Order: The big advantage the Cobras carry in their team is their two explosive opening batsmen in the form of Richard Levi and Hashim Amla who can steer the team off to a great start. They would be heavily relying on them and must field them if they have any chance of qualifying. Omphile Ramela has not been so impressive with the bat, but given his brilliant performance in the domestic-circuit, they can still have some thoughts of fielding him. However, captain Justin Ontong can push himself up the order by a spot in order to stable the top order.

Middle Order: If Justin Ontong elevates himself up the order, Ramela has to come down to the middle order with other likes of wicketkeeper-batsman Dane Vilas and all-rounder Robin Peterson who can hit the ball hard and score a quickfire to give a good momentum to the team making things easier for the other middle-order batsmen. It would be interesting to see who would take the remaining middle-order spot between Justin Kemp and Sybrand Engelbrecht as both the players can prove to be handy for the team. Kemp, with his experience, can come of good use, while young Engelbrecht can also be fruitful down the middle-order with the bat and can also be vulnerable with the bowl.

Bowling Attack: The final four members of the squad to form the bowling attack must include Charl Langeveldt and Vernon Philander, who have been highly impressive with the ball, claiming wicket in every game. Aviwe Mgijima, who has not been impressive so far, could turn out to be a gamble for Cobras and the captain could plan of bringing in Dane Piedt along with Rory Kleinveldt.

In all aspects, it can be expected that the Cobras have a high chance of not disturbing the team which won against Barbados, but the win coming in the super-over, chances are also likely that the captain can make one or two changes.

Likely XI for Cobras: Richard Levi, Hashim Amla, Justin Ontong (c), Omphile Ramela, Robin Peterson, Dane Vilas (wk), Justin Kemp, Sybrand Englebrecht, Vernon Philander, Dane Piedt, Charles Langeveldt.
