Ben Stokes recorded his first-ever IPL fifty BCCI

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) hammered Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) by 6 wickets in the fourth game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Saturday evening. Making a confident start to their IPL 10 campaign, KXIP showed better intent and planning, and made full use of a tricky wicket to restrict Rising Pune Supergiant s in-form top-order, and showed no qualms in the chase of 164. Glenn Maxwell scored a rapid 20-ball 44 not out, and added 79 runs with David Miller (30 not out) to wrap up the game in his first appearance as the full-time captain. Let us take a look at the highlights. FULL CRICKET SCORES: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) vs Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS), IPL 2017

MS Dhoni s record: Dhoni may have made an ordinary start to the IPL 2017 with the bat as well as behind the wickets, but there was something to cheer for the former captain of Rising Pune Supergiant. Dhoni became the first-ever Indian cricketer to play 250 T20 games, a feat in which he was able to trump Suresh Raina (246). Dhoni has played for India, Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiant, Rising Pune Supergiants and his state side Jharkhand so far. The game on Saturday was however a disappointing one for him, as Dhoni fell for an 11-ball 5 and made a few errors behind the wickets.

Rahul Chahar joins IPL brigade: The 17-year-old Rajasthan cricketer joined the list of several players who are making their first-ever appearances in the IPL. The right-arm leg-spinner, who is also a brother of Deepak Chahar, Rahul made his debut on Saturday. While he was milked for runs without much qualms by KXIP batsmen, Rahul celebrated his debut with the big wicket in form of Hashim Amla.

Ben Stokes maiden IPL fifty: The costliest cricketer in the IPL 2017 auction held in February, Stokes was required to live up to the expectations when Rising Pune Supergiant lost Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith and MS Dhoni for a grand total of 50. With his side stuttering at 71 for 4 in the 12th over, Stokes joined forces with Manoj Tiwary to add a crucial 61 runs for the fifth wicket. In the process, Stokes scored his maiden fifty, studded with 3 sixes and 2 boundaries.

The Maxwell show: KXIP never looked in any sort of trouble in their chase, but losing Hashim Amla and Akshar Patel in quick succession did put them in a spot of bother. This was when Maxwell strode out, and took the game away from Rising Pune Supergiant. Maxwell added 79 runs with David Miller the biggest partnership in the game to lead KXIP to a win first-up. Maxwell was belligerent, and looked like leadership brought the best out of him. He was spot-on earlier in the day with his bowling changes and field-settings, and scored a match-winning 44 not out off 20 balls to win the Man of the Match award.
