As the Indian Premier League heads to its playoffs, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 50 of IPL 2016 at Bengaluru. RCB are climbing up the table slowly and steadily and have everything to play for. Whereas Kings XI have been eliminated from the race to the playoffs but will play for pride against Virat Kohli’s side. RCB need 2 out of 2 wins to make it to the final stages of the tournament but KXIP won’t let them get away with it so easily. Lets take a look at the playing XI for KXIP who will be out there to prove a point. LIVE CRICKET SCORECARD: Royal Challengers Bangalore  vs  Kings XI Punjab , Live Score, 50th T20 Match, IPL 2016

Top-order: Murali Vijay has done reasonably well as captain and player. Many think that he should have been appointed captain right from the start of the tournament as well. He will be opening the innings along with Hashim Amla, who played a superb knock of 96 in 56 balls, winning the Player of the match award in the process. They both can play classic cricketing shots and make a formidable pair. Wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has done well at No.3 and will continue to hold that position. Middle-order: Kings XI Punjab’s weakest link has probably been their middle-order. Players like David Miller and Glenn Maxwell haven’t been able to bring out their full potential and with the latter’s injury. It’s a huge loss as Maxwell’s capabilities are unmatched. Marcus Stoinis, Gurkeerat Mann and David Miller will form the nucleus of their middle-order. Akshar Patel coming lower down the order can score some quick valuable runs. They will have to play out of their skin because RCB with the form they are will come hard at them.

Lower-order: The KXIP bowling department has done well mostly in the IPL this season although their bowlers compltely lost track of it when Yuvraj Singh walked out to bat for SRH. They couldn’t defend 180 then. They will rely on Mohit Shamra and Sandeep Sharma who have got wickets for them and have used their variations judiciously. Marcus Stoinis and Akshar Patel might come in handy with their bowling especially against a strong RCB batting unit. Kyle Abbott may feature in the playing XI to strengthen their bowling in place of injured Maxwell. A choice between KC Cariappa and Anureet Singh might be made.

Nonetheless, KXIP must have a plan against the RCB top-3 – Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers or the trio can just come out all guns blazing.

Kings XI Punjab likely XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore: Murali Vijay (c), Hashim Amla, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Marcus Stoinis, David Miller, Gurkeerat Mann, Akshar Patel, Kyle Abbott, Sandeep Sharma, Mohit Sharma, KC Cariappa
