Brad Hogg’s crucial spell of 3 for 19: As the batting of the DD failed to fire, it was the KKR bowlers on the other hand, who fired with the ball, and it was none other than one of their star as well as veteran Australian spinner Brad Hogg, who was down to business, as he claimed three crucial wickets in the form of Sanju Samson (15), Pawan Negi (11), and Amit Mishra (3) for just 19 runs, that more or less sealed KKR’s fate in the first innings itself. IPL 2016 Schedule, Time Table, Fixture PDF Downloa

Andre Russell’s vital spell of 3 for 24: Not just Hogg, and not just spinner, it was KKR’s fast-bowling department, that too fired, and it was their explosive West Indian all-rounder, Andre Russell, who terrorised the DD batsmen with his sheer pace. And it was not just that, he also managed to dismiss three critical top-order batsmen from the match, in the form of openers Mayank Agarwal (9), Quinton de Kock (17) and Shreyas Iyer (0), which indeed broke the backbone of the DD batting line-up, and made the job easy for the incoming bowlers, especially Hogg, who later claimed three more wickets. Carlos Brathwaite’s IPL debut with a SIX: The West Indian hard-hitter, who recently headlined owing to his four sixes in the final over of the ICC World T20 2016 final, and allowed West Indies to win their second title, made it five in five, as he made his IPL debut by dispatching Piyush Chawla for a huge six over long on, thus reminding everyone off his deadly form. But his firework did not last long, as he was dismissed by the same  man a couple of deliveries later.

Robin Uthappa-Gautam Gambhir’s match-winning opening 69-run stand: As it turned out to be another low-scoring tie, it was the psychological advantage that played up on KKR’s mind and reflected in their gameplay, as the openers in the form of skipper Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, were off to a steady and good start, as they put-up a strong 69-run opening stand, where Gambhir contributed 24, while Uthappa contributed 35. Nevertheless, the partnership was broken by Amit Mishra, who dismissed Uthappa, but by then, the damage was already done.

Gambhir’s match-winning knock of 38: The score of 30 is always considered equivalent to a half-century in the Twenty20’s (T20s), especially in the IPL, and Gambhir has been a master of the IPL, as he usually scores more than 30 in most of the IPL appearances every season. This time too, he was off to a starter, as he scored a match-winning knock of 38, to help KKR win the tie. His involvement in the 69-run stand with Russell too had played a fundamental role in the outcome of the game, as more 30 plus knocks are indeed expected out of him.

Uthappa completes 3,000 IPL runs: As Uthappa played a central knock of 35, and was also involved in the match-winning 69-run stand along with Gambhir, he reached a milestone, as he completed his 3,000 runs in the IPL. He also became the sixth batsmen in the league to achieve the feat, while he is the second man in KKR to do so, along with Gambhir, who was the first man.
