Mark Richardson’s bat slips out of his hands
Mark Richardson was slow! Talk about a Test strike-rate of 37.66, chances were that spectators were lulled into sleep. But, on the odd occasion, he had these funny moments on the field of play.
During a home Test against India in 2002, Richardson drove Ajit Agarkar down the ground for four. However, as he crossed over to the other end, Richardson shadow-played a shot in anger and it flew from his hands and went some distance away. It was even funnier to see him run after it as the bat flew in air and landed some distance away. Richardson immediately apologised to the umpire.
New Zealand defeated India by 10 wickets and led the two-match series 1-0. Mark Richardson was declared the Man of the Match for his match-winning 89 in the first innings. New Zealand went on to seal the series by 2-0 as they won the second test by four wickets.
