Martin Guptill had scored 105 against Bangladesh to complete a clean sweep in the group stage of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. In the next round, the quarter-final, he went on to score 237 not out — the highest in World Cup cricket — against West Indies. The 342 runs scored by Guptill in two consecutive One-Day International (ODI) innings is the record number of runs by any batsman in two consecutive ODI innings in career. The previous record of this was held by Rohit Sharma, who had followed his 52 by a massive 264 in November, 2014 to aggregate 316 from two innings. In the history of ODIs, only one other batsman has aggregated over 300 runs from two consecutive ODI innings. Sanath Jayasuriya was the first to do so in 2006 when he scored 309 runs in two innings — 152 and 157. He is the only batsman to have scored 150s in two consecutive ODI innings. Martin Guptill again features in top five in this regard as he aggregated 292 runs in 2013 with scores of 103 not out and 189 not out against England in successive ODIs.
