The level of fielding in contemporary cricket has reached new heights. When a fielder is fielding closely, they often tend to follow batsman’s movement and adjust accordingly.

During the third Test of the recently concluded Pakistan vs England Test series Sharjah, something similar happened but the batsman had the last laugh. On a flighted delivery from Adil Rashid, Misbah at first when for a sweep shot but sooner he realized that the ball didn’t have enough pace on it and was moving away from him. He was down on his knees and looked all set to sweep the ball but on the very last moment he opened the face of the bat and played it towards the first slip. Wicket-keeper Jos Buttler and James Anderson who was fielding at first slip were deceived and moved towards the fine leg area.
