Raavan is a 2010 Indian film directed, written and produced by popular director Mani Ratnam. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram in the lead roles while stars like Govinda and Ravi Kishan also feature in key supporting roles. The film is a contemporary adaptation of Ramayana more from the antagonist Ravana’s perspective. The film was critically acclaimed by many but mostly received mixed to negative reviews.
Yograj Singh made some scathing verbal attacks on Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni recently. First, he blamed Dhoni for dropping his son, Yuvraj Singh, from the World Cup 2015 squad and later called him proud, comparing the cricketer with Ramayana’s antagonist Ravana. Criclife learns that Yograj, who also happens to be a popular Punjabi actor, is set to go a step further, this time donning the director’s hat and directing his version of Raavan, which will be a cricketing adaptation of Ramayana, with Dhoni set to star as Raavan.

In Yograj’s plot, Lanka is replaced by Chennai as we can see in the poster; Dhoni’s face is painted in the Chennai Super Kings’ yellow. Yuvraj will play the role of Lord Rama and the character of Sita will be replaced by the Team India caps. The plot goes, Dhoni is an evil captain who is ruling from Chennai and is a great devotee of Lord Srini. He has crossed the Gambhir rekha and nabbed all India caps from the northern belts and distributed it to his subjects in Chennai. Yuvraj is desperate to get his beloved cap back from Chennai along with his subjects’ caps too and in that pursuit the Great War follows.

The film has interesting casts. Gautam Gambhir is set to star in the role of Laxmana, while Virender Sehwag bagged the role of Hanuman and injury prone Zaheer Khan will play the slain Jatayu. Harbhajan Singh is set to be Vibhishan (Ravan’s brother), who once close to Dhoni, turns his back after falling out of favour and aids Yuvraj in his pursuit. In a change of circumstances, Sir Jadeja is set to be Surpanaka (Ravan’s sister). In a sub-plot, he forces Yuvraj and Gambhir to give up on the national caps and in turn gets kicked in the butt by the brothers. This act offends Dhoni, who decides to hijack the caps.

In signing for the epic, it is believed Rohit Sharma’s legendary ability to appear sleepy and lazy, has landed him in the role of Ravana’s brother, Kumbhakarna. Suresh Raina and Ravichandran Ashwin, also have landed in the roles of Meghnath (Ravana’s son) and Ahiravan (Ravana’s other brother) respectively.

The film is set to reveal many secrets pertaining to Indian cricket and Yograj is set to create history as he assembles the biggest cricketing star-cast in a tell-it-all creative venture.
