Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Pune Warriors India vs Delhi Daredevils game – the first of the two IPL matches on Monday.

Pune Warriors India

Pune Warriors, like the Queen of Wands, will be active, in command and will strongly believe that it’s their time now. They go into this game being well planned and ready to play a steady innings. The concern today for Pune is that with the Eight of Cups and the Hanged Man they may end up leaving their final push a little too late. Their fielding may let them down despite some strong bowling.

Sourav Ganguly will show moments of brilliance with the World card, but there aren’t any supportive cards today, instead with the Hanged Man there, he may not be able to maintain his momentum. As a captain, Ganguly is strong, pro-active and will be able to adapt his captaincy according to the situation.

Key players

Steve Smith is growing in his maturity and with the Nine of Pentacles in his cards. He will be an important factor in this game – through making runs and his pro-active thinking.

Jesse Ryder is confident and authoritative. The Empress and the Ten of Cups shows the type of strength he has to help his team through.

Angelo Mathews will have good start, and will be able to push all his potential to get some important results for the team.

Ashish Nehra is looking unsure and may try too much at once. He will need to re-gain his focus if he wishes to improve his day.

Rahul Sharma will be focused and in control. He will stick to the team’s plans well, but should be careful of getting to complacent towards the end of his spell.

Marlon Samuels may prove to be too aloof with his direction and will need his captain to make sure he is on the right path, after which he will be a valuable player.

Delhi Daredevils

The Delhi Daredevils will need to prepare themselves for a dominant and attacking opposition. Despite looking weaker and confused, they have a strong team management that will make sure, like the Two of Wands, they are armed with balanced and attacking plans. On the field, they will find it hard to practically implement their strategies, but realising this, they will work on getting back to doing the basics well. The Daredevils are ready to fight but will do so cautiously.

Virender Sehwag will start off in a sedate manner, but as his confidence grows, like the Six of Wands he will be attacking and will seek to change his team’s fortunes. Sehwag will be a balanced, calm and a well planned captain. He will work on getting his team through tough situations.

Key players

Kevin Pietersen has the Lovers card supporting him. He will be part of an important partnership and make some crucial runs. Pietersen will do the basics well.

Mahela Jayawardene will take time to settle himself, after which the High Priestess guides him in opening up to his true capabilities.

Irfan Pathan will do well to maintain balance in his game plans and will perform steadily.

Shahbaz Nadeem will start off a little too expensive, but will quickly stabilise his bowling.

Ross Taylor has the Seven of Swords, the Hermit and the Ace of Wands. He will be able to implement his plans strongly and will be an important player today.

Morne Morkel will be a controlled, aggressive bowler. His calmness in a tough situation will be important for the team.

Who has the advantage?

Pune Warriors have a strong captain and a well-planned team riding high on success. Whereas Delhi Daredevils have a team ready to put together a collective fight. I believe its advantage Delhi.
