Ahead of the much-awaited South Africa tour of India, there are talks of Virat Kohli replacing Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the One-Day International (ODI) skipper. However these might just turn out to be speculations. However keeping the next Champions Trophy and World Cup in mind, this might turn out to be a sensible decision if the team management opts for Kohli.

Despite leading the side to several laurels and most recently doing a fabulous job in the World Cup 2015, off-late India hasn’t done really well under Dhoni. India had a dismal tri-series in Australia where they failed to make it to final and even lost the ODI series in Bangladesh.

Dhoni has been a captain for too long and in the twilight end, India can maximise the use of Dhoni, the batsman. At the same time, the counter argument is: are we overburdening Kohli, who already is leading the Test side and has responsibilities as the best batsman in the side.
