Rashid Khan, now 19 years 160 days, is all set to become the youngest-ever international captain across formats and genders. Rashid will become the fifth player to lead Afghanistan in ODIs (at 19 years 165 days), and obviously their youngest. Before Rashid, England Women’s Arran Brindle was the youngest, at 19 years 260 days. Among men, Bangladesh’s Rajin Saleh had led Bangladesh in an ODI aged 20 years 297 days. Below is the list of youngest player that have captained their national sides across formats.

Tests: Tatenda Taibu was handed over reins of Zimbabwe during turbulent times, at 20 years 358 days. Before him, MAK Pataudi had led India at under 22. Waqar Younis, Graeme Smith and Shakib Al Hasan complete the top five.
