Chennai Super Kings (CSK) thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 27 runs in the 20th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015 tournament on Wednesday night. Devarchit Varma brings the highlights of the match.

Suresh Raina’s half-century: The left-handed middle-order batsman was once again in the elements as he notched up yet another half-century. Raina’s innings of 62 off 32 balls, studded with four boundaries and as many as six sixes proved to be the backbone for Chennai Super Kings, who went on to score in excess of 180. Raina’s half-century was not the only bright spot, as he was also involved in two 50+ run partnerships. While Dwayne Smith and Raina added 58 runs for the second wicket, the famous pair of Dhoni and Raina added 54 runs from just four overs, for the third wicket. Mitchell Starc’s ordinary IPL comeback: Starc was cynosure of all eyes as he was expected to provide a new life to the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) bowling line-up. However, Starc was a little rusty coming off injury but still he was less expensive than the others who have played for RCB earlier in IPL 8. Starc returned with the figures of 4-0-24-1, and accounted for Mohit Sharma’s wicket. Full scorecard: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings Match 20 IPL 2015

Yuzvendra Chahal comes to party: The leg-spinner continued the good work as he snaffled three wickets — that too of those who can be devastating on their days. Chahal first had Brendon McCullum caught on the off side, and then claimed the big wickets of MS Dhoni and Raina. However, he was expensive, giving away 40 runs off 10 overs. Chennai’s ‘Superman’ Kings: There is absolutely no doubt on the fielding abilities of the likes of Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo. Both the players took splendid catches which were more than special. A mishit from Manvinder Bisla looked like clearing du Plessis at mid off, but the fielder moved back a couple of paces and leaped in the air to grab the ball one-handed! Bravo joined the party soon when he took a sharp catch, covering a lot of ground from long on and ensuring the take the ball cleanly as it was dying on him, thus dismissing Dinesh Karthik. RCB’s collapse: Bisla caught, Rilee Rossouw cleaned up, AB de Villiers run-out and two good catches ensured RCB were back to the struggle once again. Even the young Sarfaraz Khan showed promise but he was caught in the deep, leaving Virat Kohli with a humongous task in his hands. Dwayne Smith gets 5,000 T20 runs during IPL 2015 RCB-CSK match

Virat Kohli’s half-century: The skipper of the Bangalore team waged a lone battle; reaching 50 off 40 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. Kohli’s presence at the crease after the collapse kept RCB’s hopes alive. Kohli soon got out in the 17th over, as his wicket proved to be the final nail in the coffin.

Ashish Nehra’s spell from hell: Being an easy target of the vacuous Indian cricket fans, Ashish Nehra has been really successful this IPL. The left-arm pacer was niggardly on Wednesday night as far as giving away runs was concerned, as his last over yielded only one run to the opposition while Nehra snaffled two wickets. Nehra returned with the figures of 4-0-10-4, which is also his career best in overall Twenty20 cricket.
