Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) face Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in their next match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 and will look to put an end to their poor form. Ironically, the last time RCB tasted a win was against the same opposition and hence have a psychological advantage going into this match. But RPS are also coming off an impressive win against Delhi Daredevils (DD) and cannot be taken lightly. Virat Kohli has been the man in form for RCB and is currently the owner of the Orange Cup. Let’s see the XI RCB are most likely to go with in this crucial tie. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD, Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016, Match 35 at Bangalore

Top-order: Chris Gayle has not fired all tournament and his poor form continued on his return to the team as well. It will be interesting to see if he gets a go today. He may be given a final chance in this match, considering he has the ability to take the bowlers to the cleaners once he gets set. He will open the innings with KL Rahul, who has scored heavily in the recent matches. Kohli has been in sublime form to say the least and hw will look to be at his best in this match as well. Middle-order: After Kohli, the might of AB de Villiers will walk in at No. 4 and there aren’t enough adjectives to describe his game play. If he stays in the crease for about four overs or so, RCB can rest assure that they will be in a comfortable position in the match. Shane Watson too can score some quick-fire runs at No. 5, added to his bowling abilities. Sachin Baby has not really faced many deliveries, but has shown glimpses of what he can do. RCB may decide to retain him, if not they may go in for Sarfaraz Khan, who has proved his might in the past. Stuart Binny was quite a handful with both ball and bat. Kohli made the right call by asking him to open the bowling and might do so in this match as well.

Lower-order: There might be a few changes in the bowling line-up,  RCB’s weakest department. It is high time they brought in Chris Jordan into the team. RCB have been struggling in the death overs and Jordan is known to be a death overs specialist and can make a huge impact. He will come in place of Tabraiz Shamsi, who has not had particularly good outings so far.

If Shamsi is replaced by Jordan, RCB have the option of bringing back Iqbal Abdullah in place of Varun Aaron, who has failed to pick up a single wicket in his three matches so far. Abdullah can be effective in the middle overs and strangle the batsmen for runs. If he picks up a wicket or two, it is a bonus for RCB. Yuzvendra Chahal had an excellent game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), finishing with 2 for 27. Sreenath Aravind too bowled well and the duo are most certainly to get the nod today.

RCB likely XI: Chris Gayle, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Shane Watson, Sachin Baby/Sarfaraz Khan, Stuart Binny, Iqbal Abdullah,  Chris Jordan, Sreenath Aravind, Yuzvendra Chahal.
