Shikhar Dhawan, the attacking Indian opener becomes the fastest Indian and fifth fastest overall to get past 2,000 One-Day International (ODI) runs. Dhawan scored 91 and was unlucky to miss out on a ton against Sri Lanka in the third ODI at Hyderabad.

The Delhi southpaw took 48 innings in 49 matches to reach this milestone and and became the joint fifth fastest overall to score 2,000 ODI runs. West Indian great Viv Richards also took the same number of innings in same number of matches to achieve this feat.

Among Indians Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sourav Ganguly are the joint second fastest who took 52 innings to get past 2,000 runs. In the overall list, Hashim Amla (40 innings) of South Africa is the fastest followed by Pakistan’s Zaheer Abbas (45 innings) and England’s Kevin Pietersen (51 innings).
