Thanks to Indian Premier League (IPL), many overseas players have become a household name in India. The massive crowd that turned up for West Indies vs England at Bangalore earlier in the ICC World T20 2016, the posters saying ‘Welcome home, Chris Gayle’ proved enough to establish that IPL has a huge impact on the game of cricket now. The current event being a 20-over format, the players’ performances in IPL count a lot more. ICC World T20 2016 is taking place in India and he experience the players had earned during IPL comes in handy. Talking about IPL, one player who has proved to be a key to success for Raining champions Mumbai Indians is Kieron Pollard, who pulled out of the tournament. Pollard has been one of the most essential members of the team in the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad for a very long time. He has helped Mumbai Indians (MI) prominently to win the title for 2015 season of the tournament. His remarkable performance came in the qualifier against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede. While Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel had already provided a good start, Pollard cemented MI’s chances of winning by playing a quickfire 17-ball 41 with the help of 7 sixes. His performance has been consistently well at the ground. Similar power-packed performances came from the all-rounder while a different one came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while he played a knock of 38-ball 30. The player kept rotating strike to Hardik Pandya who scored 61 off 31 and they both took the score to 79 for 4 to 171 for 4. Apart from batting, the player also scalped important wickets to help the team.

Pollard, with all the experience at the ground, could surely prove to be a key player for the side. With his presence the West Indies side, which is already rich with all-rounders, could be more strengthened while he could help others with the experience. Not only the ground, he has the experience to play with the regular members of the current Twenty20 International (T20I) squad of India, including Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya which could also come in handy for the side.

A plus for the team, however, will be the presence of Lendl Simmons who has been called in in place of Andre Fletcher but will surely miss the all-round package and responsible game-play that Pollard could bring in.
