Like all other games, cricket too is played with a lot of intensity and passion. While the bowlers fight for every single wicket, the batsmen also do not let go an opportunity of scoring every single run. Such is the passion involved that at times when a batsman fails to take a run which was on offer, he does not mind venting his anger and frustration. One such incident happened during the fifth and final game of the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series played between Pakistan and West Indies in the Caribbean in 2013. The protagonist of this act was then ODI skipper of Pakistan Misbah-ul-Haq. Set 243 to win the match and series, Pakistan were 4 down for 160 when Umar Akmal joined Misbah in the middle. During their association, there came a moment when the captain lost his cool and gave a piece of his mind to junior Akmal. In the 45th over of the innings with 46 required from 34 balls, Misbah played a Dwayne Bravo delivery towards deep mid-wicket and sped off with the call of ‘two.’ However, a slow Umar Akmal could not return for the second which infuriated Misbah.

The angry skipper then said few words to Umar in native Urdu/Punjabi language which when translated in English mean “shame on you”. Misbah’s anger was justified as those were crucial moments in the game when every single run mattered. As it happened, Pakistan got home with just one ball remaining. Umar Akmal scored 37 and Misbah fell for 63 with scores levelled. With the win, Pakistan also sealed the series.
