One of the most fondly remembered moments from the 1992 World Cup is a flying Jonty Rhodes breaking the stumps to run Inzamam-ul-Haq out. Rhodes’ effort, famously known as the ‘superman’ run out, still continues to enthral the fans world over. The very thought of a lightning fast Rhodes running in from point and diving a full stretch in the air to find Inzamam short of his ground still gives goosebumps.

Hailing from the neighbouring nation, Zimbabwe cricketer Hamilton Masakadza is no Rhodes. Not taking only his fielding skills into account, but his physique too is nowhere close to the great man. Rhodes has always been fit and agile, which is certainly not the case with Masakadza. So just imagine what would have happened when the Zimbabwean tried to ape the South African legend’s effort? We’ll tell you.

Last month, during a Twenty20 International (T20I) with Afghanistan in Sharjah, Masakadza tried to do a Rhodes, when he was standing at gully. Usman Ghani, the Afghan opener, played a Tendai Chisoro delivery towards gully and sped off for a single, only to find himself stranded almost at the other end as his partner declined the single.

Masakadza, who was standing at the edge of the circle, sensed an opportunity of run out and perhaps thinking that the batsman will give up and won’t try to return back, he didn’t throw the ball to the keeper and started running towards the striker’s end. The distance to cover was more for the fielder than the batsman and hence Ghani too ran back to his crease. Seeing this, Masakadza still didn’t throw the ball and decided to break the stumps himself. But he ended up making himself a butt of jokes as the batsman made it comfortably. Watch the video, which will leave you in splits, here:

Enna kandraaavi da idhu? 😀 😀 Worst piece of fielding you will ever see! Saadha dhandam illa, Kodhandam! Jonty Rhodes will be proud of this guy 😀
