In 2003, Bollywood witnessed one of the classiest movies being made on a pair, which though was not in the league of Sholay or Andaz Apna Apna, but was easily one of the best in the humour genre. It featured Govinda and Sanjay Dutt, who though were at their best back then, but somehow failed to make the movie click. The critics, experts and Bolly buffs were amazed as to how the movie failed to make a mark despite their superlative performances. However, the maker of the movie David Dhawanâs fortunes changed after this movie as his next releases âMujhse Shadi Karogiâ and âPartnerâ were box-office winners. Fast forward to 2016, the ninth season of Indian Premier League (IPL) is on. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are languishing at the bottom (penultimate spot) of the points table. A pair of âJai-Veeruâ and âAmar-Premâ calibre has been doing wonders for them, and yet the success has been elusive. No prizes for guessing that the pair comprises of skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. In five games, the duo has added 636 runs so far; roughly 67 percent of total runs scored by the team. The team may be losing despite Kohli-de Villiers pairâs brilliance, but the RCB management is not worried though. And there is a reason to it; a fair one.
It is learnt that the RCB owners (not Vijay Mallya, who anyways never cared how his team fared) are planning to remake âEk Aur Ek Gyarahâ by casting Kohli and de Villiers in the top roles. Not that they are planning to venture into movie making business, but this decision is more of superstition-driven. âJust the way Dhawanâs life changed after making âEk Aur Ek Gyarahâ, we are sure after this remake, RCBâs fortunes will also change and we may win the IPL 9. Thatâs precisely why we are making the movie,â the team owner said.
Whatever the owner may feel, the writer believes there is definitely cricketing logic behind the remake decision. âEk Aur Ek Gyarahâ means â1 + 1 = 11â in English and while the conventional wisdom says â1 + 1 = 2â, superhumans Kohli and de Villiers definitely add up to 11 together. Together both of them are good enough to take on any XI. Anyways, other update on the movie includes signing of Chris Gayle as its music composer, after the makers were reportedly impressed with his âI am from Jamaicaâ number. Dances will be co-choreographed by Gayle, Kohli and Tabraiz Shamsi. Shane Watson will lend his voice to the songs along with Danielle de Villiers. In other roles, Sarfaraz Khan will play comedian while Mallya will play the chief antagonist. Stuart Binny too has been given an important role; of the spot boy, that is. Please note this is a humour article â work of pure fiction.
