Alastair Cook was batting on 49 when he declared the innings against Sri Lanka at Lord’s, back in July. In his last Test innings of the year, at Chennai, he fell to his nemesis Ravindra Jadeja, also for 49, sending quizzers and statisticians across the world into a rare fit of ecstasy, for Cook became the first person in the history of Test cricket to score five 49s — leapfrogging ahead of Jack Hobbs, Sunil Gavaskar, and Mahela Jayawardene in the span of five months.

Thankfully, here at CricketCountry we take a more conventional stance when it comes to quizzing. While we love to challenge others, we also try to keep things sane, trying to stay off 49s. That, however, does not mean we are going to be lenient when we challenge you.

Indeed, how well do you know your 2016?
