Indian hockey umpire Javed Shaikh earned an unique distinction Thursday by officiating in his 100th international match at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon. The 39-year-old achieved the milestone during the men’s bronze medal match between South Korea and Malaysia at the Seonhak Hockey Stadium.
âUmpire Javed Shaikh has brought recognition to the country by umpiring his 100th match at the 17th Asian Games. His remarkable achievement gives me immense delight and I congratulate him on behalf of Hockey India (HI) and look forward to seeing more of him on the field,â HI secretary general Narinder Batra said.
