Spanish team Atletico Madrid have reached the final of the UEFA Champions League 205-16, overcoming Bayern Munich in the semi-final. Bayern Munich won the match 2-1 at the Allianz Arena,  but lost out on away goals as they failed to score any in their away tie, which they lost 1-0. The tie ended with aggregate score of 2-2. Atletico will now face the winner of Real Madrid vs Manchester City, which will take place on Wednesday. This is Atletico’s second Champions league Final in two years. If Real Madrid progress to the final, it will be a repeat of the Champions League final 2014. Real won that match 4-1 and claimed their 10th title in the process.

In today’s match it was the home side Bayern Munich, who had taken the lead through Xabi Alonso’s free kick, which deflected of a defender and went into the back of the net. Atletico however kept pressing for an equiliser and finally found one when a defending error gifted Antonie Griezmann a chance to score and he took it.

However, Bayern would rue the chance of going 2-0 in the match after Thomas Muller missed a penalty, when Javi Martinez was brought down in the box. The game was evenly poised at 1-1 at half-time and Bayern needed to score at least twice to progress in the final.

It was Robert Leandowski, who put Bayern ahead on the night with a good header. Bayern kept pressing but could not get the goal that would have taken them to the final. They were given a huge let off when Fernando Torres missed from the spot.

With five minutes of extra time added on, Atletico held their nerves and secured a spot in the final of the Champions League.
