The Pandya brothers have made a lot of headlines this year. The 22-year-old Hardik Pandya went on to establish himself as an all-rounder in the Indian team and elder brother Krunal caught many surprised when he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for a whopping INR 2 crores in the Indian Premier League auction. Ironically, the more famous Hardik has INR 10 lakhs annual contract with MI. No worries, it is all in the Baroda-based Pandya household, which is having its time under the sun after years of hardships. On Saturday, Krunal, 25, made his IPL debut against Gujarat Lions at Wankhede Stadium. IPL has seen brothers playing against each other but it was for the first time in IPL history that two brothers featured in the playing XI in the same time. While Hardik had a poor outing, Krunal made an impressive debut. He scored an unbeaten 20 from 11 balls to help MI reach a respectable total. He bowled four overs for 20 runs and picked up the wicket of Dinesh Karthik.

The next target for the brothers is the national cap. Can they achieve what the other brother-pair from Baroda — Yusuf and Irfan Pathan? We will have to wait and watch.
