Ajinkya Rahane assures that his focus in on Zimbabwe T20Is and not IPL verdict

The Justice Lodha Committee announced on Tuesday that Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would be suspended from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for two years over illegal betting. The situation leaves players from the franchise unsure of their contracts and one of affected players is Ajinkya Rahane.

Rahane is one of the most important players from the Jaipur based franchise and the current Indian team that he is leading in Zimbabwe has five players who are likely to be affected by the suspension. Rahane, Sanju Samson, Dhawal Kulkarni and Stuart Binny represent RR while Mohit Sharma represents CSK.

Things may not be going great for India back home but Rahane certainly seems to be enjoying his new role as India’s stand-in captain. The 3-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe has lifted the young Indian side and Rahane assured that the team isn’t deterred by the verdict  and are looking forward to the Twenty20 International (T20I) series.

In a report from AFP, Rahane was quoted as saying, “My only focus is on these two T20s – I’m not thinking about the IPL. If you represent your country, your only aim is to give your best for your country and win matches for them.”

After spending their leisure time in the lap of nature during their wildlife expedition, the Indian team is now set to begin their T20I series against Zimbabwe on Friday.
