Another feather in Stuart Broad's cap: Becomes No. 1 Test bowler
English speedster Stuart Broad is now reaping fruits for the immense hard work he has put on the field as he is now the ranked one Test bowler in the International Cricket Council (ICC) bowlers rankings. He climbed up the table following his match winning performance in the third Test against South Africa at Johannesburg.
Broad steamed in and accounted for six South African scalps to steer his side to a dominating position. South Africa were dismantled for a mere score of 83 and England just had a target of 74 runs to be chased in the second innings. The hosts won the encounter by seven wickets and seal the series by 2-0 with a match to go.
Broad went to this game with 853 points in his basked. His performance of two for 82 and six for 17 brought more 27 points to his existing tally to see him leapfrog Ravichandran Ashwin and Dale Steyn. He now leads the table and is also the first English bowler to have attained such milestone since Steve Harmison who was at the apex in 2004.
