Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas is VVS Laxman’s fan

One of the most stylish and elegant cricketers to ever come out of Pakistan, Zaheer Abbas was recently in Hyderabad on invitation from the Hyderabad Cricket Association to watch the Moin ud Dowla Gold Cup cricket tournament.

Abbas, who’s also the current ICC President, was seated alongside Indian batting genius VVS Laxman during one of the matches, when he heaped praise on the stylish Hyderabadi. A PTI report quoted Abbas saying, “I have been a great fan of Laxman. When he used to bat, I would make sure that I will be near the TV set. The way he hammered the Australian team (in 2001), not many have done that. I am great fan of yours, sir.”

The way Laxman tormented the best side in the world, the Australians, for a long time, is something not achieved by many. No wonder his heroics against the world-beaters earned him a lot of fans world over. And now, Abbas has become the latest entrant to Laxman’s fan club.
