The Australia-England rivalry lives on and never fails to entertain. In the recent times the Australian media has taken several jibes on Englandâs dismal shows and even after they managed a win, the taunts continue.
Australian mainstream newspaper The Age took a dig at Englandâs struggles in the ongoing World Cup and came up with a front-page headline after England feebly defeated Scotland. Itâs funny, rather humiliating, when the paper said: âCricket shock: England defeats Scotland.â
Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris went into a discussion with Adam Gilchrist on Twitter regarding the same.

After a dreadful start in the mega event, England can still qualify from the group. They play Sri Lanka at Wellington on Sunday, the same venue where New Zealand absolutely thrashed them. In a way itâs still good that they arenât playing in the background of the hostile Australian crowd but if England lose against Sri Lanka, they can expect a barrage of jibes from their ever opportunist nemesis Australia.
