Brendon McCullum created history when he broke AB de Villiers’ record of most number of consecutive Tests since debut when he played his 99th Test against Sri Lanka in the ongoing series at Hamilton. Earlier, McCullum also surpassed Australia’s Adam Gilchrist’s record of 96 Tests on a trot since debut. McCullum at present is leading the side and has done a remarkable job as a skipper.

McCullum’s consistent run in Test cricket is a testament to his fitness and dedication towards cricket. McCullum has been a livewire on the field and inspires confidence every time he steps out. He debuted in a Test against Australia at Hamilton in January 2002. In 98 matches so far, McCullum has amassed 6237 runs at an average of 38.73 and also has 11 centuries to his name. His maverick approach with the bat as well as field has turned out to be effective on many occasions.

New Zealand are leading the two-match Test series by 1-0 and are eying for a whitewash. In the second Test, they won the toss and elected to field first. They have done a reasonable job in chipping seven Sri Lankan wickets at the score of 264. They will look forward to end the year on a high as they have also remained undefeated since March 2012 at home.
