Brendon McCullum writes letter to bosses to excuse New Zealand fans from work

In an extraordinary circumstances cricket fans were offered a letter of consent from New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum to get them off work on Thursday. According to stuff.co.nz, in a letter on an official New Zealand Cricket (NZC) letterhead which was signed by McCullum, bosses were asked to give their workers off so that they can go to Wellington to watch the final One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka.

This was done to capitalise on the surge of interest in the Black Caps team given their good form in the leadup to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, NZC took up the initiative with their design agency and the letter went went viral on social media.

The letter read, ‘They may not be at the office but rest assured they’ll be putting in the hard yards at Westpac Stadium, helping us get over the line against Sri Lanka. Come down and support us yourself. We’ve got a seat with your name on it and a flag that won’t wave itself.’
