Brendon McCullum’s letter to Indian fans, urging them to back New Zealand ahead of final against Australia

Brendon McCullum wrote a letter to the Indian fans seeking their support as New Zealand take on ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 favourites Australia in the final of the tournament.

New Zealand might just have earned millions of new supporters for the team in India post the latter’s semi-final loss against Australia on March 26 and the Black Caps captain was quick to take note of it after all they are now the favourites among the neutral crowd. McCullum took the opportunity to write a letter to the Indian fans seeking their support as New Zealand take on ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 favourites Australia in the final of the tournament on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Its not the first time that McCullum has resorted to writing letter, earlier the thoughtful batsman had drafted a letter addressed to ‘all the bosses in New Zealand’ asking them to give the employees leave for the semi-final clash against South Africa. Here is the letter by McCullum to the Indian fans, released by PUMA:

Earlier, in the pre-final press conference, the Kiwi skipper said that he’s certain that the Indian fans will be cheering for New Zealand, following the semi-final disappointment at the hands of the home team. He said, “I reckon we might have the home crowd tomorrow actually. I think it’s probably no secret that most of the other teams around the world would probably fair New Zealand to win against Australia. So hopefully we’ll get a good smattering of support tomorrow, and I’m sure the Indian guys will certainly be rooting for us.” (READ: Brendon McCullum: I am sure the Indian guys will certainly be rooting for us)

New Zealand defeated South Africa in a nail-biting semi-final by four-wickets at Eden Park to qualify for their maiden World Cup final and it is nothing but obvious that the team requires every bit of support to beat the formidable Australian team.
