Brian Lara assures more help from Trinidad & Tobago to Dominica PM

It goes without saying that the West Indian cricket legend Brian Lara is one of game’s finest ambassadors. Even in his playing days, he played the game in the right spirit with utmost integrity. He was the flag-bearer of the West Indies cricket in their ailing times of the 1990s and 2000s. And now, in his new role of being the Special Envoy of new Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, he has once again taken guard to serve the Caribbean region, not with his willow this time though.

In his new capacity, Lara recently visited the island of Dominica, where the Tropical Storm Erika had caused massive devastation last month. According to a report from Caribbean360.com, he toured some of the worst affected areas, where the heavy rains had caused huge monetary and infrastructure damage and claimed about 30 lives.

Lara met with the Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and on behalf of his Prime Minister, the understandably disturbed batting legend announced more help to the poor nation. Lara said Prime Minister Rowley was extremely concerned about the situation in Dominica and “he’s willing to give a lot more”. “I am going to go back and ensure I take the right message back,” he told Skerrit.

Trinidad and Tobago was one of the first neighbouring countries to offer help to storm affected Dominica. One must stay assured of more Trinidad help, as the word comes from one of the greatest cricketers of all-time.
