Aditya Verma threatens BCCI with contempt of court if they don’t announce AGM date by Feb 12
The BCCI was given orders by the Supreme Court on January 22 to hold the AGM for electing office bearers within six weeks
Aditya Verma, the secretary of the unsanctioned Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) threatened to file a contempt of court case against Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) if they fail to announce the date of Annual General Meeting (AGM) by February 12.
According to CricketCountry, Verma said," If BCCI does not announce the date for its Annual General Meeting by February 12; I shall file a contempt of court case against them."
N Srinivasan's anti camp includes AC Muthiah, Lalit Modi IS Bindra and Shashank Manohar with Verma being the face of the campaign.
The BCCI was given orders by the Supreme Court on January 22 to hold the AGM for electing office bearers within six weeks.
Verma also claimed that if Srinivasan files a nomination for the post of BCCI president without waiting for Justice R M Lodha committee report and moves ahead of selling Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he will file a Contempt Of Court case.
He also said that CSK cannot be put up for sale pending probe and if at all the franchise is sold, Srinivasan cannot contest elections until the investigation is complete.
The apex court has set up a special committee under former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Lodha to decide on the punishment of CSK and Rajasthan Royals in their role in the Indian Premier League fixing scandal.
Verma urged former BCCI presidents Sashank Manohar, IS Bindra, Sharad Pawar and Jagmohan Dalmiya to sit together and form a new committee for the cricket board.
"Cricket is a great game and those who brought bad name to it should go. Any other person would have quit BCCI after the Supreme Court's ruling," Verma said.
