Ajinkya Rahane exhibits the true spirit of gentlemen’s game

Critics often say cricket is no more a gentlemen’s game due to the intimidating attitude and behaviour of the players. But on this occasion, Indian batsman Ajinkya Rahane has proved the critics wrong when in a rare moment he displayed true spirit of the game.

Rahane looked good from the start and was taking on the South African bowlers with immense confidence. He swept one hard from Dane Piedt towards Temba Bavuma, who was fielding at short leg. The ball hit him on his hand and he was seen in pain. Rahane immediately went to him to make sure he was all right. These are rare moments when a batsman actually cares for an opposition cricketer.

Indian Cricket Team instantly took to their Facebook account where they uploaded a video and wrote, “Gestures like these make you realise it indeed is a gentleman’s game #SpiritOfCricket @OfficialCSA #IndvsSA”

After losing wickets in abundance, India are now stable at 231 for seven at stumps on Day One with Rahane being unbeaten on 89. He will definitely look to get a big hundred when India resume batting on Day Two.
