Alan Wilkins finish of bowling action has uncanny resemblance to Mitchell Johnson’s finish

The modern generation identifies Alan Wilkins as a television commentator and anchor. But few know that he was a fine cricketer who played First-Class cricket 1976-83 during which time he played for Glamorgan, Gloucestershire and Northern Transvaal. Wilkins captured 243 wickets from 107 matches with his left-arm medium-pace.

Star Sports viewers and Wilkins, who is commentating in the fourth India-Australia Test for Star Sports, saw a split screen on their TV sets on Saturday, here Wilkins’s bowling action was compared with Mitch Johnson’s. Though Wilkins was nowhere close to the class of Johnson, the two photos show the uncanny resemblance in many other ways: the positioning of their arms, their hair styles and their mustaches.

Full marks to Star Sports for digging out Wilkins photo from their archives and showing viewers an interesting comparison.
