Axar Patel replaces injured Ravindra Jadeja for remainder of India-Australia Test series

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been replaced by Akshar Patel for the last two Tests against Australia. Jadeja has been ruled out of remainder of the series due to a shoulder injury.

The BCCI announced in a Tweet that Jadeja was injured and would therefore be replaced by Axar, who has similar skill-set. Both are left-handed batsmen and bowl left-arm spin. The BCCI website also said that Jadeja will be returning to India to undergo a rehabilitation program.

India are currently trailing the four-match Test series 2-0, after losing the first match at Adelaide by 48 runs, and the second Test at Brisbane by four wickets. The next two matches will be played in Melbourne and Sydney. The wicket at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in the past has helped the spinners and India may look to play two-spinners there.
