Ben Stokes scripts history with his double ton: Twitter Reactions

English cricketer Ben Stokes inscribed his name in the history of Test cricket when he became the second-fastest batsman to have scored a double-century. During the ongoing second Test of the Basil D’Oliveira Trophy at Cape Town, Stokes slammed a 163-ball double century to become the fastest Englishman to have achieved such feat in Test cricket.

Winning the toss, England elected to bat first and were in a delicate situation at 167 for four when Stokes walked out to bat. He took on the South African bowlers from the start and launched an attack. He sailed the English ship out of choppy waters with his tenacious knock and also surpassed Virender’s Sehwag record of 168-ball 200. He is now second on the list right after Nathan Astle of New Zealand who plundered 200 in just 153 balls.

Records kept tumbling as Stokes achieved this milestone; he also became the tenth batsman to have scored a double ton while batting at number six. England at present are in a dominating position as they are batting comfortably at 528 for five with Stokes still there at the crease. Let’s check how the Twitter world reacted to his feat.
