Geoffrey Boycott’s daughter starts new innings

Daughter of former England captain Sir Geoffrey Boycott, Emma, has parted ways as a lawyer and launched her wedding and events planning company. She launched the Emma Boycott Weddings & Events in September this year.

Emma has earlier worked at international law firms such as Pinsent Masons, and covered business and high net worth individual (HNI) cases.

Emma aspired to become a lawyer since she was 16, however, attending events with her father, inspired her to open a company of her own.

She was quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News, “I’m lucky enough that my dad is a bit of a sports personality so I have had the experience of big black tie and corporate events.

I have always been the organised one, it is one of my main skill sets, and we are the kind of family that like to celebrate occasions, so I have always enjoyed organising birthdays and surprise parties on the side.”

Emma, who has a law degree from Leeds University and has trained at the York College of Law, said, “I had never really stopped and asked myself is this still what I want to do, because I was so focused on achieving the next goal.

Working in law can be long hours and I wanted to readdress that work life balance.”

Speaking about his Emma’s new venture, which will be based in Wilmslow, Boycott said, “I know she’ll do good because she looks like her mum did at that age and she has my brains.”
