Herschelle Gibbs arrested for drunk driving

Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has reportedly been arrested for drunken driving.

Western Cape police could not confirm on Monday that the man arrested was Gibbs, but said a 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night.

IOL News reported Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana saying, “The circumstances surrounding an accident which occurred yesterday (Sunday) at about 11.30pm are being investigated.

A drunken driving case is under investigation. A 40-year-old suspect was arrested and later released, to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on 25 November 2015 on the charge registered against him.”

Gibbs, who has played 90 Tests for South Africa, was treated at a rehabilitation clinic for drug and alcohol abuse in 2009. He had earlier been arrested in March 2008 for drunk and negligent driving.
