IPL 2015: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Delhi Daredevils by six wickets, Stars and flops

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put forward another clinical show to reach to the third spot in the points table in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Captain Gautam Gambhir led from the front and scored another fifty, his third in four games to ensure that KKR beat Delhi Daredevils comfortably.

Earlier, winning the toss KKR elected to bowl first in a slightly different Feroz Shah Kotla track. KKR put forward a brilliant show with the ball and restricted the home side to only 146 in their 20 overs. For DD, Manoj Tiwary, who finally got an opportunity to bat top scored with 32. He looked really good in his stay but couldn’t convert the start to a big total.

Turning point: Yuvraj found a weird way to get out. He couldn’t connect the sweet and wandered outside his crease for a while without realising that the ball hadn’t past the wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa, who effected a comfortable stumping. Yuvraj’s wicket in the 15th over for only 19 runs was a big blow for DD, who could have got in excess of 160, had the star left-hander fired.

KKR made the chase look quite easy. Gambhir scored a solid 60 and was ably supported by his deputy Suryakumar Yadav (24 from 16) and Yusuf Pathan (40 not out from 26). The defending champions completed the chase with 11 balls to spare to now move to the third position in the points table, just below the unbeaten Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
