IPL 2015: Points table, orange cap and purple cap

The eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) got underway on April 8 and this year too will see eight teams clash for the title. In the opening game of the tournament defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hosted the Mumbai Indians (MI) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

In the previous edition, the George Bailey led Kings XI Punjab ended as the table toppers but lost to the Gambhir led KKR in the final of the tournament.

For every win, a side gets two points and the top four sides play qualify for the play-offs. The leading run-scorers are awarded the Orange Cap, while the leading wicket-takers don the Purple Cap.
