IPL 2015: Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Delhi Daredevils by 6 runs, Stars and flops

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Delhi Daredevils (DD) and added more anguish to their run in the Indian Premier League in their first match at Raipur on Saturday. With this win, SRH are comfortably placed at fourth position in the points table.

SRH won the toss and batted first. They didn’t get an ideal start as their openers floundered. Eoin Morgan and Moises Henriques stuck to their guns and weathered the early storm to rescue SRH innings from a delicately placed 31 for two in the 5th over. Morgan got a start but failed to capitalise on as he played a loose shot and threw his wicket away. SRH somehow managed to get a decent total of 163 in their 20 overs courtesy to Henriques for his determined innings of 74.

It was a do or die game for DD for keeping their hopes alive in making it to the play-offs. While chasing 164, DD lost their man in form Shreyas Iyer very early. Quinton De Kock played his first game of the season and didn’t fail to make an impact as he scored a tenacious half century. Yuvraj Singh gave his wicket away by playing a very loose shot to Parvez Rasool. Although Kedar Jadhav played a solid innings of 63 off 34 deliveries but somehow didn’t manage to carry his team over the line as DD lost by a whisker.

Turning point: DD required 29 runs off last 18 deliveries, which looked quite easy to get in game of uncertainties like T20. But SRH bowled exceptionally in the death and gave away only 22 runs in the last three overs in spite of having Kedar Jadhav at the crease. This was the turning point of the match
