Meet Lt. Anurag Thakur

BCCI‘s current president Anurag Thakur began his new innings by joining the Territorial Army as an officer. The BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from Hamirpur constituency, Thakur is a well known personality in India’s political circles.

Thakur’s career has been full of twists as he started in whites by playing First-Class cricket for Himachal Pradesh followed by ethnic Indian dress kurta pajama as a politician then a top official in Indian cricket board and now he has become an army man with the rank of Lieutenant in Indian Army. He became the first serving MP from BJP to join military force. Thakur cleared an exam and a personal interview at Chandigarh followed by training in Bhopal to make it to Territorial Army.

As reported by Times of India, Thakur was very excited after getting this opportunity and said, “I am very excited. It is a dream come true for me. I always wanted to wear the (military) uniform and contribute to the country’s security but could not.”
