Vishnu Induri and Phantom Films have claimed the rights to produce a film on the glorious journey of the Indian cricket team.

India stunned everyone and tasted the World Cup for the first time in 1983 after defeating the dominant West Indies team in the high-voltage final. The face of Indian cricket changed after this victory. And the good news for the fans is that Vishnu Induri and Phantom Films have claimed the rights to produce a film on the glorious journey of the Indian cricket team. The movie is expected to hit the theatres in March 2017 and all eyes are set for the thrilling movie. The 1983 World Cup is an important eventful moment in the history of cricket. The film will be made by Anurag Kashyap and Arjun Kapoor is expected to play the role of Indian skipper Kapil Dev, according to a BollywoodLife.com report. It is also believed that Sushant Singh Rajput and Ranveer Singh will be acting in the film too.

A joint statement reported by Sportskeeda by Induri and Phantom Films Madhu Mantena says, "We are super excited about making of the 1983 movie and it's a huge responsibility on our shoulders to get it right as we don't get to tell stories like this often."
